THE UK ban on flights to Sharm El Sheikh needs to be lifted – or more British airlines could fold.

That’s the advice of a group of MPs, who say travel restrictions to the Red Sea resort are harming the aviation industry.

With so many airlines competing in a smaller market, fares reached rock bottom – so the company earned £100 million less last year, despite carrying 14 per cent more passengers.

Andrew told the BBC: "Flights were being squeezed into a smaller number of destinations and a 25 per cent reduction in ticket prices on our routes created a massive economic challenge for our short-haul network".

As a result, the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Egypt has called for the Foreign Office remove the travel ban on flights into Sharm El-Sheikh airport.

They said: "If we do not want to hear of further similar stories, it is vital that the flight ban be lifted as soon as possible.”
